Cameron shrugged. “I could die on any job. I’ve been doing some research on it, as long as I’m not one of the weak morons the chances of me dying in the army are actually pretty low.”
He licked his lips and sighed. “I’m graduating this year, Evie. And even if I didn’t hate every single one of my subjects and actually wanted to go to college for some reason, none of them are gonna accept a smart-ass with a bad attendance record and a B average — Mister Kenny’s words, not mine. And I’m not gonna be one of those Lima losers that’s still opening doors at Walmart and living with his parents when he’s 30. So yeah, that doesn’t really leave me with all that many options. “
Evie wrapped her arms around herself, and stared down at the sheets. “Screw Mr. Kenny - I know you can be more than that,” she said, softly. “I’m just worried, babe….I don’t want anything bad to happy you,” she said, looking up at him hesitantly, and biting her lip.
Ugg boots in general are a crime against humanity. Not only are they cruel, but they make your feet look enormous, and they’re just ugly all around.
They’re awful, and really not good for anything. They get ruined too easily, and people still wear them every time it snows. That’ll protect you.
People are ridiculous like they don’t keep your feet warm AND they get ruined. I’m all for sacrifices for fashion but don’t ruin expensive shoes in bad weather!
Evie couldn’t help but tense up a little at his words, her guts twisting a little, and she sat up a little, looking at him, her face furrowed. “Wh-what? Why?” She asked, quietly, trying to keep her voice from wavering.
Cameron sat up a little too, his stomach twisting slightly at the tone of Evie’s voice. He shrugged. “I don’t know,” he said. “I haven’t enlisted or anything yet. Just thinking about it.”
She sucked in a breath, wrapping her arms around herself, looking at him with wide, disbelieving eyes. “…but why the army?” She repeated, biting harshly at her lip. “You could die.”
